Our Story

Projex J was launched by Chantelle Ross, beloved Mother of Jamerson ‘Jammo’ in response to the life crushing reality of losing him. On Saturday 8th October 2022, Jammo headed out with his closest friends to celebrate his 23rd birthday, in Hastings Victoria. He was a victim of a hit and run on his walk home.

Jammo was my only sibling, my Brother. He wasn’t your average 23 year old. Jammo owned his first home by 20, had a beautiful partner ‘Lucy’, treated his dog ‘Bronco’ like his child and worked more than anyone I know; with a work ethic and vast goals of a champion in the making.

Jamerson loved fishing, four wheel driving, camping and exercising. Sitting still was not a strength of his, he was always on a mission to get busy living. Jammo felt invincible to me, he was healthy, he was fit and strong, he was my big brother; My Idol. There are no words to describe what it felt like to see my indestructible brother lying on the road that night. Cold. Alone. Lifeless.

I didn’t believe we could survive his loss. He was the centre of our lives. All I saw was darkness.

After the painful loss of her Mother, in 2009, Chantelle knew it was integral for our healing journey to Get Busy Living in honour of Jammo. Exactly how he lived his life, and would want us to live ours.

My grieving Mother rallied the only strength she had to give myself, our father Steve, and Jammos partner Lucy, the hope and power to survive. One minute, one hour, one day at a time.

Chantelle carried us all through each aching moment, surrounded by the support of her incredible sisters, extended family and friends. We were fortunate enough to be blessed with a network around us full of love, strength and hope.

As Chantelle suffered through her grief for Jamerson, she discovered that she needed the connection with different people on a similar grieving voyage, to help her feel less alone and isolated in her deep grief. She needed to know there were people who understood her pain, and that it was possible to live, and flourish after such a loss; Her golden boy, Her Son, Her best friend.

She found there is a dire absence of available resources to help and support people who are grieving. This is why Projex J was born.

Through Projex J, Chantelle and the committee aims to provide the grieving community a safe space to be in the company of those who understand one another; to replace isolation with connection. Projex J aims to provide care and support in every capacity we can for those struggling with any type of grief.

Denial, Anger, Bargaining, Depression & Acceptance,

The stages of Grief are overpowering, flooded with heartache.

Grief demands to be felt, there is no escaping.

Grief is gasping for air, drowning in sorrow.

But, to share your Grief is to take a breath.

Grief shared is grief divided.

Being surrounded by those who understand your pain, lifts the weight off your chest to let it fill with oxygen once again.

Those who are grieving need to walk together, one foot in front of the other. To those who have lived through loss, we have strength in numbers.

Let’s share our grief, to breathe once again. Let’s grieve together. Let’s heal together. Let’s get busy living.

Projex J thanks you for your support ♡♡♡
